2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid Performance

When the new, upgraded CR-V debuted in 2023, it built on the popularity of this model with the Canadian public in the mid-size SUV segment. Add the fantastic hybrid trim and the interest grows more. With all of Honda’s expected build quality, safety and technology, and hybrid performance, the CR-V Hybrid will continue to grow in popularity.

The powertrain in the CR-V Hybrid has a number of advanced technologies that work together to achieve responsive performance and fantastic fuel consumption.

Powertrain

The CR-V Hybrid gets a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder motor, making 146 horsepower and 134 lb-ft of torque, coupled to a powerful drive motor, a generator/motor and a lithium battery pack. The combination of the Atkinson engine and the electric motor produces a combined 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque. The motor/generator acts as a motor only when starting the engine. After that, it’s a generator that provides the electricity required by the vehicle.

This motor has three purposes. Firstly to provide a power source to drive the generator to generate electricity, secondly to supply electricity to the drive motor at the front to drive the front wheels, and thirdly to charge the batteries.

As the drive to the wheels is via an electric motor, the CR-V Hybrid is a pleasure to drive in the city as it responds immediately to pedal pressure.

The Honda Cr-V Touring is no slouch and goes from 0 to 100kph in 8.2 seconds.

Charging the Batteries

The battery pack can be charged in two ways. The first is when the engine is running to drive the generator to generate electricity. Secondly, the vehicle uses regenerative braking technology. This is when the generator uses the vehicle’s kinetic energy to spin the generator, creating electricity.

Fuel Consumption

Fuel Consumption

The CR-V Hybrid sips fuel, and its combined (city and highway) consumption is 6.4 L/100km. This can be combined with Honda’s Eco Assist system that monitors how efficiently you’re driving and an ECON drive mode that also works to ensure that you get every kilometre from every litre of fuel.

Suspension

This fantastic hybrid system would not work as well if it’s not working in conjunction with a firmer suspension. The suspension in the CR-V consists of a MacPherson Strut in the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear. These work in conjunction to ensure that there’s very little body roll, minimizing the impact of bumps in the road and ensuring a comfortable ride for driver and passengers.

A 21st Century Car, in All Ways

The Honda CR-V Touring, with its distinctive gloss accents and wheels, is sure to run heads wherever it goes. Add to this the fantastic hybrid system that uses an Atkinson-cycle engine alongside two electric motors, and you have a car designed for the 21st Century. This car sips fuel to lessen emissions and uses its electric power to provide instant acceleration and a smooth drive. The interior is comfortable, and spending a long day in the seat will not result in needing a massage. To test drive this great car, come into Riverside Honda and chat with the sales staff. They’ll be happy to organize a test drive and answer any questions you may have.
